In January, Honda unveiled the NeuV (pronounced "new-V") concept vehicle at the 2017 CES in Las Vegas. The NeuV (New Electric Urban Vehicle) investigates ways that owners can create new value from their vehicle when they're not driving it.

Privately-owned vehicles sit idle approximately 96 percent of the time, so the NeuV was engineered to run as an automated ride-sharing service that picks up and drops off local customers during this downtime. In periods of high demand -- when the vehicle is not in use -- the NeuV is also capable of selling its energy back to the electric grid.

The vehicle makes use of "emotion engine" to help it serve as an AI assistant that senses the emotions behind the driver's decisions and offering new selections and recommendations based upon those previous choices. The technology, which is named HANA (Honda Automated Network Assistant) can even check on the driver's emotional well-being and make music recommendations based on the driver's current mood.
