DCH Honda of Mission Valley is proud to be a Honda dealer for a variety of reasons. One in particular is because our automaker is committed to enriching the lives of people. An example of this is the 20-year partnership it has sustained with Students Run L.A.—otherwise known as SRLA.

What is Students Run L.A.?

Founded back in 1989, SRLA is a training program for middle and high school track athletes who are underserved. It prepares participants for the Los Angeles Marathon & Life. More than 63,000 students have taken part in the program since its founding. It is said that close to a hundred percent of high school seniors who have gone through the program successfully graduate and go on to seek higher education.

How is Honda Involved with SRLA?

For the past two decades, the American Honda Motor Co., Inc., has contributed more than two million to SRLA to fund not only training but uniforms, nourishment, and scholarships for the students. It is also the host of the Celebrating Dreams Graduating Event which recognizes select individuals for their exceptional academic achievements in addition to completing the final marathon. This partnership with SRLA is just one way that the company demonstrates its dedication to the community.

2017 L.A. Marathon & Life

The outcome of the 2017 L.A. Marathon & Life adequately showcases the results of Honda and SRLA's partnership efforts. 2,800 students ran the 26.2 mile course in Los Angeles, and approximately 95 percent finished the marathon. In short, these figures illustrate the positive effect the training program has in helping students realize their own potential.
